The Phato Zone in Jim Corbett holds significant importance in the region and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Damodar Modi and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Dhami on January 2, 2022. Situated in the northern part of Jim Corbett National Park, it shares boundaries with the Terai West Forest and the Amangarh Tiger Reserve. To cater to the growing number of tourists, the Phato Zone was established as the seventh zone, expanding the existing six zones in Jim Corbett Park Spanning across a vast area of 2,516.70 hectares, the photo safari zone is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger, various deer species, elephant corridors, and a wide variety of birds. Exploring the photo zone through a thrilling jeep safari allows visitors to observe these magnificent creatures up close. The presence of large human-made water reservoirs within the photo zone enhances the ease of life for wildlife. It is not uncommon to spot Royal Bengal Tigers near these reservoirs. The presence of different animal and bird species further adds to the beauty of the photo zone’s dense forest.
Phato Gate
The Phato Zone boasts the densest forest cover in Jim Corbett National Park and is also recognized as the densest forest in Uttarakhand. The Jeep safari experience in the Phato Zone offers a sense of pure pleasure. The distance from Corbett City Ramnagar to the entrance of the photo zone is just 18 kilometers, providing convenient access for tourists. Along this route, visitors will have the opportunity to witness the magnificent. Covering the largest area among all safari zones in Jim Corbett Park, the Phato Jeep Safari Zone provides a higher probability of encountering wild animals, including the elusive tigers. Phato Tree House
Phato Zone was included in the month of December 2021, the government has built a tree house in the Phato area of Jim Corbett National Park. The main attraction of Phato area is visitors can stay overnight to see the wildlife. Phato Zone is an option for both day safari and night stay.
Immersive Experience
For tourists seeking an immersive experience, night stay facilities are available within the photo jeep safari zone. This includes the existing forest rest house, built during the British period, as well as the first treehouse of Jim Corbett National Park, which is currently under construction. These accommodations allow visitors to appreciate the tranquility of the surrounding forest and create unforgettable memories.
