jhirna zone & Jhirana Rest House

Jhirna Zone is one of the five zones in Jim Corbett National Park, located in the southern part of the park. The zone was initially a farming village that was relocated outside the park boundaries when the park was established in 1936. The area was later reforested and declared a protected zone in the 1990s.

Jhirna Zone was first opened for tourism in 1994. Also Jhirna Rest House was built where tourists can stay for the night and since then it has become a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. The region is known for its varied terrain including dense forests, grasslands and streams, and is home to a wide variety of wildlife including tigers, leopards, deer and several species of birds.

Today, the Jhirna Zone is a popular destination for jeep safaris and birdwatching, and visitors can explore the zone with a licensed guide after obtaining a park permit. The best time to visit the zone is from November to June, when the weather is pleasant and the animals are most active.
